AvenSci transforms accepted scholarly manuscripts into validated publication formats through copyediting, typesetting, metadata preparation, proofs and final quality control.

PRODUCTION WORKFLOW
Nine controlled stages before public release
Copyediting
Language, consistency, terminology, references and production queries are checked.
Typesetting
The accepted content is transformed into the AvenSci publication design and structured source.
Metadata & identifiers
Book/chapter metadata, contributor data, ISBN, DOI and access information are prepared where applicable.
PDF production
A publication-quality PDF is generated for proof inspection, reading, printing and archiving.
EPUB 3 & HTML
Structured digital formats are generated from the controlled master source where appropriate.
Accessibility & QA
Structure, alt text, navigation, links, metadata and format-specific requirements are checked.
Author/editor proofs
The designated author or book editor checks the proof and submits essential corrections.
Ready for Publication
After corrections and human validation, the release package can move to publication handoff.

One controlled source, multiple publication formats
AvenSci prioritizes DOCX or LaTeX as editable source and maintains a structured production master. PDF, EPUB 3 and HTML are generated from that controlled content.

QUALITY CONTROL
Automated checks support — but do not replace — human validation
AvenSci combines format validation with a final human review before a publication can be marked Ready for Publication.

PROOF CORRECTION
Proofs are for essential corrections, not major rewriting
Authors and editors should check the complete production proof carefully and return one consolidated set of corrections through the designated proof workflow.
Check carefully
- names, affiliations and ORCID;
- titles, headings and running order;
- equations, symbols and special characters;
- figures, tables, captions and cross-references;
- references, DOI/ISBN and publication metadata;
- permissions, acknowledgements and funding statements;
- links, navigation and obvious production errors.
Avoid at proof stage
- rewriting large sections;
- adding substantial new results or arguments;
- changing authorship without editorial approval;
- restructuring the book or chapter;
- adding new figures/tables without necessity;
- purely stylistic rewriting.
Proof issued
The proof and production queries are released.
Corrections submitted
Corrections are entered through the controlled exchange.
Production review
Approved corrections are applied and checked.
Final approval
The corrected publication is reviewed before release readiness.

Ready for Publication is a controlled status
A work reaches Ready for Publication only after required production outputs, quality checks, proof corrections and human approval are complete. Publication handoff is a separate controlled step.
